MOXI fits this approach because it is a gentle non-ablative fractional laser — delivering meaningful skin renewal with minimal downtime — making it practical to incorporate as a maintenance treatment several times a year. It is positioned as a "starter" laser for patients in their 20s–40s who are not yet candidates for more aggressive resurfacing.

MOXI is a 1927 nm non-ablative fractional thulium laser — it works by creating micro-zones of heat in the skin to stimulate renewal of tone and surface texture. BBL HEROic is a broadband-light (IPL-type) device — it targets pigment and vascular concerns through selective photothermolysis (light absorbed by colour). In short: BBL HEROic CORRECTS specific pigment and redness; MOXI REFINES overall tone and texture. They are complementary, often paired in the same session at INNODERM (sometimes called "the Sciton glow").

Yes — this is one of MOXI's clinical advantages. Because it is non-ablative (the surface is not removed) and delivered at 1927 nm (a wavelength less melanin-targeting than older lasers), MOXI is considered safer to deliver year-round including in summer months, provided you commit to strict SPF 50 aftercare for at least 2 weeks. That said, sensible sun avoidance during the 2 weeks before treatment is still required.

Yes — MOXI's 1927 nm wavelength and non-ablative fractional pattern were specifically engineered to be safer than older lasers on melanin-rich skin. It is widely used across Fitzpatrick I–VI with appropriate settings adjustment. However, all darker-skin laser treatments carry some risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation, so your practitioner will assess your Fitzpatrick type and may recommend a test patch on the first visit.

A typical introductory course is 3 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart. For maintenance, 2–3 sessions per year keeps the prejuvenation effect going. Your practitioner will recommend a course after assessing your skin tone, texture, and goals — and may adjust the energy across sessions as your skin gets used to the treatment.

Yes — and it is one of the most popular combinations at INNODERM. The standard sequence is BBL HEROic first (to correct specific pigment/redness/sun damage), followed by MOXI (to refine overall tone and surface texture). The combination is sometimes called "the Sciton glow" and is performed in a single appointment of roughly 60–75 minutes. Recovery is roughly the same as MOXI alone — some pigmentation may darken briefly from the BBL ("coffee ground" effect) before flaking away over 3–7 days.

Most patients describe a "sandpaper" feel to the skin for 24–72 hours as tiny micro-channels heal. Visible micro-dots (MENDs — microscopic epidermal necrotic debris) may appear as fine bronze speckling over days 2–4 before flaking off naturally on days 3–5 to reveal glowing skin. You can return to work the same or next day. Mineral makeup is allowed after 24 hours.

MOXI is appropriate from late 20s onwards. The 25–40 age group typically use it for prejuvenation — staying ahead of fine lines, dullness, and early sun damage. The 40+ age group typically use it alongside more targeted corrections (BBL for pigment, Morpheus8 for laxity) as a refining adjunct. The treatment is rarely indicated for under-25s without specific clinical reason.
