Exosomes are nanoscale extracellular vesicles released by cells, carrying signalling molecules — proteins, peptides, lipids, and growth factors — that influence the behaviour of other cells. ASCE+ uses plant-derived (rose stem cell) exosomes packaged with regenerative factors. They are applied topically after a procedure that creates micro-channels in the skin (such as microneedling or laser), so they can reach the dermis and signal repair pathways.

Exosome therapy is a relatively new modality in aesthetic medicine, and the regulatory landscape around exosome-based products is still evolving in the UK and EU. ASCE+ is one of the most widely used formulations in clinic settings and is applied topically (not injected). Exosomes do their best work when paired with a procedure that opens micro-channels in the skin — such as microneedling, Morpheus8, MOXI, or PicoSure Pro — so the molecules can reach the active layers of skin where signalling matters. PRP uses growth factors concentrated from your own blood; it is autologous (from you) and applied either topically after microneedling or injected. Exosomes are factory-prepared nanovesicles from a non-human source (plant or stem-cell-derived) carrying a more standardised cargo of signalling molecules; they are applied topically. PRP has the advantage of zero allergic risk because it is yours; exosomes have the advantage of consistency between sessions and no blood draw. Both have their place — the choice depends on your goal, comfort with a blood draw, and your practitioner's recommendation.

Because exosomes are applied topically, the downtime is dictated by the procedure they accompany — not the exosomes themselves. After microneedling + exosomes, expect mild redness for 24–48 hours. After laser + exosomes, redness may persist 2–5 days depending on the laser used. Many practitioners report that adding exosomes can shorten visible redness compared with the same procedure done alone, though individual response varies.

Some patients notice a smoother, more hydrated complexion within 1–2 weeks. The deeper regenerative effects — collagen support, texture improvement, and glow — build over 2–6 weeks following each session. For substantial change in skin quality, a course of 2–3 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart is typically recommended.
