Traditional HA fillers add immediate volume but are absorbed within 12–18 months. Lanluma stimulates your own collagen for a gradual, natural result that lasts over two years — and it is the first collagen-stimulating filler specifically approved for body use.

Most clients achieve their desired result in 1–2 sessions. The number of vials depends on the degree of enhancement you are looking for.

Minimal. Swelling and bruising typically subside within one week. You can return to normal activities the same day, though strenuous exercise should be avoided for 48 hours.

Lanluma is suitable for most adults seeking non-surgical body contouring. It is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for those with active infections or autoimmune conditions in the treatment area.

Lanluma is a poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) biostimulator — the same active polymer used in Sculptra, but formulated for body use at higher concentrations and larger volumes per session. PLLA microparticles, when injected into the deep subcutaneous tissue, trigger a controlled inflammatory response that signals fibroblasts to produce new collagen around the particles. Over 8–12 weeks the PLLA is gradually metabolised by the body; the collagen it stimulated remains. The result is gradual volumising driven by your own tissue rather than a foreign-substance filler.

Surgical BBL uses your own harvested fat, transferred via liposuction and reinjection under sedation or general anaesthesia — major surgery with associated risk (historically one of the highest mortality rates of any cosmetic procedure due to fat embolism risk), 4–6 weeks recovery, permanent if the fat survives. Lanluma is a non-surgical injectable performed in clinic under local anaesthetic, 1 week recovery, results that develop over 3–6 months and last 24+ months. The trade-off is risk vs longevity. Surgical BBL achieves larger volume per procedure; Lanluma is the safer, gradual, refill-able route.

Different mechanisms with different timelines. HYAcorp is hyaluronic acid body filler — immediate volume the day of treatment, results visible right away, lasts 12–24 months. Lanluma is PLLA biostimulator — no immediate dramatic change, gradual collagen-driven volumising over 3–6 months, results lasting 24+ months. HYAcorp suits patients who want to see results immediately; Lanluma suits patients who prefer naturalistic gradual change. Combination plans are common: HYAcorp first for instant structural reset, Lanluma staged afterwards for progressive collagen-driven refinement.

Yes — hip-dip correction is one of the established Lanluma indications. Hip dips are an anatomical feature where the natural shape of the pelvis creates a concave area at the side of the hip; PLLA can be strategically placed to build collagen-driven volume in this area for a more rounded silhouette. Results develop gradually over 3–6 months. Some patients combine Lanluma in the hip-dip area with HYAcorp filler for the buttock to address both concerns in a coordinated plan.

Volume per session varies by anatomy and goal. A typical buttock augmentation may use 5–10 vials of Lanluma per side, delivered across 2–3 staged sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart. Hip-dip correction is smaller, typically 2–4 vials per side. The total volume placed reflects collagen-stimulation target, not immediate-volume target — you will NOT see all that volume on the day of injection because Lanluma builds gradually. Pricing is per vial. Your consultation will quote total expected vials and total cost for full transparency.

Expect mild swelling and tenderness for the first 5–7 days. The single most important aftercare requirement is the "5-5-5" massage protocol: massage the treated area for 5 minutes, 5 times per day, for 5 days post-treatment. This evenly distributes the PLLA microparticles and prevents nodule formation — it is not optional aftercare. Avoid sitting on hard surfaces for the first 48 hours, avoid intense lower-body exercise for one week, no deep tissue massage on the area for 4 weeks, and pause hot baths/saunas/swimming pools for one week.

Each course of Lanluma builds collagen that lasts approximately 24+ months. With consistent maintenance (typically one session every 18–24 months), the cumulative collagen build can result in a sustained, long-term volumising effect. Without maintenance, the result gradually fades as the collagen turns over with natural ageing — you will not lose the lift overnight, but visible volume diminishes over 24–30 months. Lanluma is therefore a long-term commitment rather than a one-time solution if you want to maintain the effect.

Treatment is contraindicated for: pregnancy or breastfeeding; known allergy to PLLA or product components; active infection or skin condition at the treatment area; autoimmune conditions in an active flare or current immunosuppressive therapy; history of abnormal scarring or granuloma formation; bleeding disorders or current anticoagulant therapy; BMI outside the recommended treatment range (your consultation will confirm); and unrealistic expectations about the degree of enhancement achievable.
