PicoSure is an advanced picosecond laser designed to target tattoo ink with ultra-short pulses of laser energy. The laser delivers energy in trillionths of a second, creating a predominantly photomechanical effect that breaks tattoo pigment into much smaller particles while minimising unnecessary thermal damage to the surrounding skin. The fragmented pigment is then gradually cleared by the body’s natural immune and lymphatic processes. Different wavelengths can target different ink colours. PicoSure’s 755 nm wavelength is particularly effective for black, blue and green pigments, while additional 532 nm and 1064 nm wavelengths can be used for other colours and skin types where clinically appropriate. Risks & side effects: temporary redness, swelling, blistering, scabbing, hypo/hyperpigmentation by individual reaction and the rare possibility of scarring.
PicoSure tattoo removal is a gradual process. The laser breaks the pigment into smaller particles; your body then progressively clears these particles. Therefore, the tattoo continues to fade between treatment sessions rather than disappearing immediately after the procedure.

Laser treatment targets the tattoo pigment using short, controlled pulses. The procedure typically takes 30–60 minutes, depending on the size and complexity of the tattoo.
The treated area may appear red, swollen or feel warm, similar to a mild sunburn. Small white “frosting” of the skin can occur immediately after treatment and usually settles quickly.
The skin gradually heals. Redness and sensitivity reduce, while temporary scabbing or blistering may occur. Do not pick or scratch the treated area.
Your body naturally clears the fragmented ink particles. The tattoo will gradually begin to look lighter.
Further treatments are spaced at least 4–8 weeks apart, allowing the skin to fully recover and giving your body time to clear more pigment.
