BodyTite is classified as a minimally invasive procedure — somewhere between non-invasive RF treatments and traditional liposuction. A small entry incision is required for the RF-assisted cannula, but the procedure is typically performed under local anaesthetic rather than general anaesthesia. The device is FDA 510(k)-cleared under K181712 and is manufactured by InMode. At INNODERM the procedure is delivered by a medically qualified clinician with experience in RF-assisted lipolysis.

Traditional liposuction physically removes fat via a cannula attached to suction; it does not address overlying loose skin and typically requires general anaesthesia. BodyTite uses an RF-assisted cannula that liquefies fat using bipolar radiofrequency energy WHILE simultaneously heating and contracting the overlying skin in the same pass — so fat reduction and skin tightening happen together. Recovery is generally faster than liposuction (1–2 weeks vs 4–6) because tissue trauma is lower. Liposuction can move more volume in a single session; BodyTite trades volume for the added skin-tightening benefit.

BodyTite is most commonly used on the abdomen, flanks (love handles), upper arms (bingo wings), inner and outer thighs, knees, and the back (bra-fat region). It is particularly well-suited to areas where skin laxity is a concern alongside fat reduction — patients who would otherwise need a tummy tuck or arm lift after liposuction. The procedure is NOT designed for whole-body weight loss; it is for body sculpting at a stable target weight.

The procedure is performed under tumescent local anaesthesia — the treatment areas are infused with a numbing solution before treatment begins. Most patients describe the active treatment as pressure and warmth rather than sharp pain. Some patients also opt for light sedation depending on the volume being treated. There is some post-procedure tenderness for the first 3–5 days, which is typically managed with prescribed pain relief. The 120-minute appointment length reflects setup time plus the active procedure.

Some immediate change is visible from the fat reduction itself, but compression garment use over the first 1–4 weeks is critical for shape definition. Substantial skin tightening builds over 3–6 months as collagen remodels in response to the controlled heat. The fat cells destroyed by BodyTite are permanently removed by the body — that aspect of the result is permanent. Skin tightening continues for up to 12 months, then begins to gradually relax with normal ageing; most patients see results stay strong for 5+ years before considering a top-up treatment.

Compression garment for 1–4 weeks is essential — this is part of the result, not optional aftercare. Expect bruising and swelling for 2–3 weeks. Most patients return to desk work within 3–7 days; physical / active work usually 2–3 weeks. Strenuous exercise is paused for at least 2 weeks, with gradual resumption guided by your practitioner. Wound care at the small entry points is straightforward (the entry sites are typically 3–5 mm and rarely require sutures). A follow-up at 1–2 weeks and again at 3 months tracks progress.

Treatment is contraindicated for: pregnancy or breastfeeding; active infection or skin disease in the treatment area; implanted pacemaker or defibrillator (RF energy interferes with electronic implants); uncontrolled bleeding disorders or current anticoagulant therapy; significant medical conditions requiring specialist clearance; BMI significantly above the recommended range for safety; metal implants in the treatment zone; and history of poor wound healing or keloid formation.
