Hair mesotherapy uses the same micro-injection technique as facial mesotherapy but delivers a scalp-specific cocktail tailored for hair health: vitamins (biotin, B-complex, zinc), amino acids (cysteine, methionine, arginine), peptides for follicle support, minerals, and sometimes targeted growth-factor preparations. The cocktail is injected at multiple points across the thinning areas of the scalp at a shallow depth, delivering active ingredients directly to the hair-follicle environment rather than relying on topical absorption.

There is moderate evidence that hair mesotherapy can support hair health and slow early-stage hair loss — particularly in patients with nutritional deficiencies contributing to thinning, or as adjunct to other treatments. The evidence is less strong than for established interventions like minoxidil or finasteride. Hair mesotherapy is best understood as a SUPPORTIVE treatment — it nourishes existing follicles but does not regrow hair from dead follicles. We are honest that it works best as part of a broader plan rather than as a standalone solution.

Different tools, different mechanisms. Hair mesotherapy delivers nutrients and basic peptides — best for nutritional/supportive intervention, lowest cost per session. Hair PRP delivers concentrated growth factors from your own blood — strongest evidence base for androgenetic alopecia, requires blood draw. Hair exosomes delivers factory-prepared signalling vesicles — leading-edge with growing evidence, higher per-session cost. Your consultation will recommend the right approach (or combination across sessions) based on the cause of your hair loss, the stage at which you're starting, and your budget.

A typical course is 8–10 sessions delivered weekly or fortnightly, followed by maintenance every 4–6 weeks. Visible response — reduced shedding initially, then improved hair quality — typically takes 6–12 weeks to become apparent. Hair mesotherapy is more course-intensive than PRP or exosomes (which are typically 3–4 sessions monthly) because each session delivers nutrients rather than concentrated growth factors. The cumulative effect of frequent dosing is the value of the approach.

Yes — and this is often the most productive plan. A common combined approach: hair mesotherapy weekly/fortnightly during the early months to build nutrient support and follicle environment, with PRP staged at month 1, 2, and 3 to deliver concentrated growth-factor signals. Some patients also alternate mesotherapy and exosome sessions. Topical or oral medications (minoxidil, finasteride for appropriate male patients) continue alongside as recommended. Your practitioner will design the combination based on your specific hair-loss pattern.

We strongly recommend it — particularly if you have not had recent blood work done. Common underlying contributors to hair shedding that should be ruled out before assuming androgenetic alopecia: iron and ferritin deficiency (especially in women), vitamin D deficiency, thyroid dysfunction, B12 deficiency, and in some cases hormonal imbalance. Treating these underlying causes is often more effective for the hair than any injectable. Your GP can typically arrange basic blood tests on the NHS; we can also discuss arranging private blood work if preferred.

Minimal. Some patients have mild scalp redness, tenderness, or pinpoint marks for the first few hours; this typically settles within 24 hours. You can return to normal activities immediately, though the aftercare lists important restrictions: do not wash your hair for 12–24 hours to allow the cocktail to be absorbed; avoid intense exercise and sweating for 24 hours; do not apply styling products for 24 hours; avoid hair colouring or chemical treatments for 1 week.

Treatment is contraindicated for: pregnancy or breastfeeding; active scalp infection, inflammation, or open wounds; known allergy to any ingredients in the planned cocktail (we cross-check at consultation); blood clotting disorders or current anticoagulant therapy; uncontrolled diabetes; active autoimmune conditions; recent chemotherapy or radiation therapy; and severe cardiovascular disease.
