How It Works

PDO Threads are absorbable sutures placed beneath the skin to provide a subtle lifting and tightening effect while supporting the skin’s natural collagen response. Thread treatments are designed to improve mild to moderate skin laxity and can help create a more defined, refreshed appearance without surgical incisions. They are not a replacement for a surgical facelift and are generally most suitable when the degree of skin laxity is limited. At Innoderm Aesthetic Clinic, every PDO Threads treatment begins with a medical consultation. Your doctor will assess your facial anatomy, skin quality, degree of laxity and aesthetic goals before recommending whether threads are appropriate for you. Results vary depending on the type and number of threads used, the treatment area, individual healing response, skin quality and practitioner technique. The exact treatment plan depends on your individual anatomy and the type of threads selected. PDO Threads are not designed to correct severe skin laxity or significant excess skin. During your consultation, your practitioner will discuss whether another treatment or surgical option may be more appropriate.

Preparation

Follow these steps before your PDO Threads Lift appointment to ensure the best outcome.

7–10 Days Before avoiding medicines and supplements that may increase bruising or bleeding
48–72 Hours Before Avoid alcohol, as it may increase bruising and swelling
Stay well hydrated and maintain your usual balanced diet
Ideally, avoid smoking and vaping around the time of treatment. Nicotine can interfere with healing
Avoid scheduling dental procedures close to your PDO Threads treatment where possible. Prolonged mouth opening and manipulation of the treated area may be uncomfortable during the early healing period

Post-Treatment Care

Aftercare

Follow these guidelines after your PDO Threads Lift session for the best possible results.

The First 24 Hours A cool compress may be used gently to help reduce swelling
Avoid touching, rubbing, pressing or massaging the treated area
Cleanse gently with a mild cleanser and pat the skin dry
Do not scrub the treatment area
The First 48–72 Hours Where possible, sleep on your back with your head slightly elevated
Try to minimise excessive facial movements during the initial healing period
If you experience discomfort, use only medication recommended or approved by your doctor
Avoid alcohol for approximately 48–72 hours after treatment to help minimise bruising and swelling
The First 1–2 Weeks A soft diet may be recommended for the first few days, particularly when the lower face or jawline has been treated
Avoid strenuous exercise for at least the first 72 hours, or longer if advised by your practitioner
Avoid excessive heat for the first few days, including: •⁠ ⁠Saunas •⁠ ⁠Steam rooms •⁠ ⁠Hot tubs •⁠ ⁠Hot yoga •⁠ ⁠Sunbeds
Once the entry points have healed, use broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily and minimise prolonged sun exposure
Avoid treatments that involve significant heat, pressure, massage or mechanical stimulation of the treated area while the threads are healing

The PDO thread treatment typically takes 30-45 minutes, depending on the number of threads used and the areas treated. However, your consultation and preparation time will add to the overall appointment duration.
