Before / After

Preparation for the treatment

    • Avoid direct sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanning products on the treatment area for at least 2-4 weeks before your appointment;
    • If you need to be outdoors, wear sunscreen with SPF 30+, a hat, and protective clothing;
    • Discontinue any medications that increase light sensitivity (such as certain antibiotics or isotretinoin) at least 1-2 weeks before treatment. Always consult with your prescribing physician first;
    • Stop using products with retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, benzoyl peroxide, and other exfoliating or irritating ingredients at least 5-7 days before your treatment;
    • Refrain from using skin-bleaching agents like hydroquinone;
    • Avoid waxing, plucking, or using depilatory creams in the treatment area for at least 1-2 weeks before treatment;
    • If approved by your physician, avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, and other blood-thinning medications or supplements for 1 week before treatment to reduce the risk of bruising;
    • Arrive at your appointment with clean, makeup-free skin. Avoid applying lotions, moisturizers, perfumes, or other products on the treatment area beforehand;
    • If instructed by your provider, gently shave the treatment area the night before, avoiding any nicks or cuts. Do not wax, as this can irritate the skin;
    • Drink plenty of water before your appointment to help keep your skin hydrated;
    • Avoid consuming alcohol at least 24 hours before your treatment, as it can increase sensitivity and the risk of bruising.

Aftercare

    • Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 7 days after treatment;
    • Wear broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen daily and reapply every 2 hours if outdoors;
    • Use hats or protective clothing to shield your skin;
    • Avoid heat and sweat;
    • Avoid hot showers, saunas, and hot tubs for 48 hours post-treatment;
    • Refrain from strenuous exercise that may cause sweating, as this can irritate the skin;
    • Gentle cleansing and moisturizing;
    • Use a gentle, non-abrasive cleanser twice a day;
    • Apply a fragrance-free, hydrating moisturizer;
    • Avoid using retinoids, acids, or exfoliants for at least 1 week;
    • Avoid makeup and picking;
    • Do not apply makeup to the treated area for 24 hours;
    • Avoid scratching;
    • Use a cold compress for 10-15 minutes if you experience mild swelling or warmth;
    • Drink plenty of water to support the healing process;
    • Monitor for unusual symptoms. If you notice excessive swelling, redness, blistering, or signs of infection, contact your provider immediately.
