Preparation for the treatment

    1–2 Weeks Before:

    • Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds on the area to be treated;
    • Discontinue use of retinoids, AHA/BHA acids, or other exfoliants on the body;
    • No self-tanners or spray tans in the treatment area;
    • Inform your provider if you have a history of herpes outbreaks (antiviral prophylaxis may be recommended).

    3–5 Days Before:

    • Stop using any photosensitizing products or strong active ingredients;
    • Do not wax, shave aggressively, or use depilatory creams on the treatment area.

    On the Day of Treatment:

    • Ensure the treatment area is clean, dry, and free of lotions, oils, or deodorant;
    • Wear loose, breathable clothing to avoid friction after treatment;
    • Drink plenty of water to keep skin hydrated;
    • If needed, shave the treatment area gently (consult your therapist).

After care

    Immediately After Treatment:

    • Redness and mild swelling are normal and usually subside within 24–48 hours;
    • The skin may feel warm, dry, or rough for a few days;
    • You might notice tiny dark dots (called MENDS) — these are temporary and will slough off naturally.

    Do:

    • Apply a gentle, hydrating moisturizer regularly (your provider will recommend one);
    • Keep the area clean and protected;
    • Use broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily (even on cloudy days);
    • Wear loose, soft clothing to avoid friction.

    Avoid for 5–7 Days:

    • Direct sun exposure or tanning beds;
    • Scrubbing, exfoliating, or picking at the skin;
    • Hot baths, saunas, or intense workouts that cause sweating;
    • Tight clothing that may irritate the treated area.

    Healing Timeline:

    • Light flaking or roughness may occur around day 3–5;
    • Skin typically smooths and brightens over 7–10 days;
    • Full results become more visible in 2–3 weeks, with improvement continuing over time.
