    • Avoid blood thinners: stop taking blood-thinning medications (e.g., aspirin, ibuprofen, warfarin) and supplements (e.g., fish oil, vitamin E) at least 7–10 days before the procedure, unless advised otherwise by your doctor;
    • Stop smoking and alcohol: avoid smoking and alcohol for 2 weeks before the treatment to promote better healing and results;
    • Hydration: stay well-hydrated in the days leading up to the procedure. Drink plenty of water to optimize your body’s recovery capabilities;
    • Healthy diet: maintain a balanced diet and avoid heavy, greasy meals the day before the procedure;
    • Skin Preparation: Clean the treatment area: on the day of the procedure, wash the treatment area with a gentle cleanser and avoid applying any lotions, creams, or oils;
    • Avoid sun exposure: protect your skin from sun exposure for at least 1–2 weeks before the procedure to minimize skin sensitivity;
    • Hair removal: if necessary, shave the treatment area 24 hours before the procedure, as instructed by your practitioner;
    • Medications and Supplements: Prescriptions: if your doctor prescribes medications (e.g., antibiotics, painkillers), ensure you fill these prescriptions in advance;
    • Discontinue certain supplements: avoid herbal supplements such as ginseng, garlic, and St. John’s Wort, which can interfere with healing;
    • Fasting (if required): follow your practitioner’s instructions regarding fasting before the procedure, if sedation is being used.
    • Clothing and Logistics: Wear comfortable clothing: on the day of the treatment, wear loose, comfortable clothing that is easy to remove and will not irritate the treatment area;
    • Arrange transportation: since the procedure involves local anesthesia or sedation, arrange for someone to drive you home afterward.

    Mental and Emotional Preparation:

    • Set realistic expectations: discuss your goals and expected outcomes with your practitioner during the consultation;
    • Relax: get a good night’s sleep before the procedure to ensure you are well-rested.

    Before the treatment, make arrangements for your post-procedure care, including:

    • A recovery space at home;
    • Compression garments if required (your practitioner will guide you);
    • Assistance with daily activities, if necessary.

Aftercare

    Immediately After the Procedure:

    • Wear the prescribed compression garments as instructed to minimize swelling, improve healing, and help shape the treated area;
    • Typically, these should be worn for 2–4 weeks, depending on the area and extent of the treatment;
    • Rest for the first 24–48 hours after the procedure. Avoid strenuous activities or heavy lifting during this time;
    • You can resume light activities within a few days as recommended by your practitioner;
    • Pain management: Mild discomfort or soreness is normal. Over-the-counter pain relievers, such as acetaminophen (paracetamol), may be used unless otherwise advised;
    • Avoid anti-inflammatory medications (e.g., ibuprofen or aspirin) unless approved by your practitioner, as these can interfere with healing;
    • Managing swelling and bruising: Cold compresses: Apply cold compresses to the treated area for short periods during the first 48 hours to reduce swelling and discomfort. Avoid direct contact with the skin;
    • Elevate the area: If applicable, keep the treated area elevated to reduce swelling. For example, use pillows to elevate your legs or prop yourself up while sleeping if the procedure involved your torso or face.

    Hygiene and Wound Care:

    • Keep the area clean: Clean the treatment area gently with a recommended antiseptic wash or as advised by your practitioner.
    • Avoid scrubbing or applying harsh products to the area;
    • Avoid baths: Refrain from soaking in baths, hot tubs, or swimming pools until your incisions have fully healed to reduce the risk of infection. Stick to showers instead.

    Activity and Movement:

    • Engage in light walking soon after the procedure to promote circulation and prevent blood clots;
    • Avoid intense exercise or heavy lifting for at least 2–3 weeks, or as directed by your practitioner;
    • Avoid driving for the first 24–48 hours, especially if sedation or pain medication was used during or after the procedure.
    • Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water to help your body recover and flush out toxins;
    • Healthy diet: Eat a balanced diet rich in protein, vitamins, and minerals to support tissue repair and collagen production.

    Follow-Up Appointments:

    • Attend scheduled visits: Follow-up appointments are essential to monitor your healing progress and ensure the best results; Attend all scheduled visits as advised by your practitioner;
    • Report concerns: Contact your practitioner immediately if you experience unusual symptoms, such as excessive swelling, severe pain, fever, or signs of infection (e.g., redness, discharge).

    Lifestyle Adjustments:

    • Avoid smoking and alcohol: Refrain from smoking and alcohol for at least 2 weeks post-procedure, as they can impair healing and collagen production;
    • Protect your skin: Avoid direct sun exposure on the treated area for several weeks. Use a high-SPF sunscreen when outdoors to protect your skin and prevent pigmentation changes.

    Patience with Results:

    • Gradual improvement: Results will become visible as swelling subsides, typically within 4–6 weeks, with full results appearing over the next 3–6 months as collagen production increases and the skin continues to tighten;
    • Long-term maintenance: maintain a healthy lifestyle, including a balanced diet and regular exercise, to prolong and enhance the results of the treatment.
